Rachel asked Sarah Dessen:

Dreamland is different from most of your other novels with how it's a relationship turned abusive and sour. What made you want to approach this subject?

Sarah Dessen I'm really proud of Dreamland. I wanted to write about a girl who finds herself in an abusive relationship because I had close girlfriends in high school AND college who were in similar situations. It's easy to think, "How could you let that happen?" but it's SO much more complicated than that. I know Dreamland is a darker book, but it's dear to me.
