Goodreads asked Jonathan Carroll:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jonathan Carroll The initial inspiration to write, was to make sure that some of my family history was recorded in some way. My Mother was another really big influence as well. I grew up with severe dyslexia as a young child and was always very reluctant to do any writing or reading type of things in a recreational way. My mother spent a lot of her energy my entire life convincing me to not allow myself to build walls and limitation around myself because of it. She taught me to be a very effective communicator and that build my confidence and gave me the courage (even as an adult) to attempt to write a book.
