I would like to know how others feel about the ending? I loved reading this book and the characters but the end left me feeling disappointed and it just didn't feel "right". I am suspecting it is b/c the character in the end isn't fleshed out enough to me to have such a significant role in the end. I don't feel like I know her and that I would know that she has such a strong feeling about the house. It feels rushed.

I was absolutely loving the book--could hardly put it down!--and thought I'd be counting it among my favorites. And then the ending left me disappointed. I couldn't understand May's wanting the house beyond it being an impressive place for parties. Maybe that's intentional, though? Patchett left me with a sense of Gatsby's house and the emptiness of it. But without the narrator's indication that he understands it that way, it's hard for me to appreciate what Patchett might be getting at.(less)
