Write fan fiction! I used to get made fun of for doing it, but it helped my writing so much. I write it every day, even now, and it helps to improve my writing so much. You can't get better if you don't practice. And it also helps if you're struggling with character and plot. With fan fiction, it's already there for you, and I think it can really help to develop you as a writer.
