What inspired you to write poems such as angel of better days to come, angel of peace, and angel of days and seasons etc? and what is your experience with the Harlem Renaissance and how did it make you the person you are today?

Aberjhani Your question about my experience with the Harlem Renaissance and how it made me the person I am today is a big one. I grew up reading about the Harlem Renaissance and admired the way the men & women of that time overcame things like racism, sexism, & poverty to create the extraordinary creative works they did. They inspired me. I later had an opportunity to co-write Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance & that book helped me become a well-known author. The Harlem Renaissance still inspires me & I am currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of the movement along with many people around the world.
