Goodreads asked Michael E. Wills:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Michael E. Wills I was taken on a tour around the New York Historical Society Museum by an excellent guide. The British artefacts he showed me from the American War of Independence, led me to investigate the part played in this war by my local regiment, The Wiltshire Regiment. I discovered a woeful tale of a military disaster. The story had to told! Thus after following in the footsteps of the regiment in Canada and America, I wrote the Wessex Turncoat.
