Maybe because I was so looking forward to "Book Woman" and felt so let down by the writing, my hopes for "Giver of Stars" were lower to start with - but I liked "Giver of Stars" better. I found Cussy to be so perfect it made my teeth hurt and some of the conversations she had with her father were obviously done for exposition rather than real conversations. If every time two books had the same historical touchstone people claimed plagiarism, we'd have a lot fewer historical novels to choose from.(less)
