While the story, characters and language in this book are appropriate for a young adult age group, I think it contains certain topics and life experiences that a younger reader will not understand or be able to relate to.
Carolyn
Definitely YAs at the high school level.
Susie
Definitely adult. I wouldn't put it in my middle school library. In addition to the "mature" themes, I think kids would be bogged down by many of the details.
Fran
I'm a retired middle school English teacher and my education credits include many hours studying Young Adult literature. I would certainly have recommended this book to many of my seventh and eight graders and plan to recommend it to my teenaged great nieces. So YES!

It is an amazing story for a middle grade or young adult section but my hesitation would be the occasional inappropriate language (the F word) for a library. The story itself would serve for great thought-provoking conversations.

I think young adults would devour this book, but there are some adult themes like infertility, and a not overtly graphic sex scene. I've talked about the book so much my 15 yo daughter wants to read it and I'm going to let her.
Marie (UK)
I am half way through. There is nothing that should overtly sexual or gory. I would say 13 and above would be able to appreciate the struggles that Edward is having and engender thinking and debate. There are certainly books that are identified as middle grade that hold more dispute than this
Karis
Teens could read it but it was written for an adult audience. Shelving it in YA might keep adults from finding it.
