I'm a huge fan of the book Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen. My friend recently bought this book and the owners of the book store she bought it at mentioned it is related to Girl Interrupted. Can anyone dispute this? Or at least tell me where they might've got this idea? Never heard it before. Thanks if you respond.

I've only seen the movie Girl, Interrupted, and have read Brain on Fire. I assume it's just because both are about mental illness.

In this book the young woman displays symptoms of mental illness but it ends up being a rare auto-immune illness that attacks her brain ... Girl Interrupted is about a girl who actually has mental illness. They are both memoirs of young women about the same age, they're both ill, and they describe their experiences and recovery.
