However I considered it to be most likely that the reader is the intended recipient. Furthermore, the device Chbosky used in purposefully structuring and conveying the story through letters written by Charlie, was intended to implicitly suggest that the intended recipient was a device used by Charlie as a literary catalyst allowing him to speak freely and honestly explaining to the reader every intimate detail of his life without shame or regret."(less)
