Goodreads asked Chris Rogers:

How do you get inspired to write?

Chris Rogers Everywhere I look--really look--is an idea for a story. One day I drove past a bus stop and saw a barefoot man carrying his shoes. Why? At an art gallery, I saw a painting of a woman with a bird sitting on her head. Why did the artist paint it? Why does the bird sit there? What's going to happen next? Recently, I became intrigued by a tree growing in my back yard. I love that tree, it's shape, it's shade, but I began thinking about how things grow wild in my part of Texas during rainy weather. That thought prompted a short story, "The Grinning Bones," in my most recent anthology, Death Edge 4, 7 Soul-Shrieking Tales of Suspense.
