It can be a real emotional roller coaster, and it takes courage to stay grounded in the face of the tidal wave of response from "other people" (agents, publishers, reviewers; praise and criticism). Being grounded doesn't mean being closed or defensive, but it does mean staying present as you absorb and sift through the feedback.
