(view spoiler)[Do you ever see yourself revealing in a John Dies at the End novel what the origin or source of Soy Sauce is?
Like, in the first book, it seems to be heavily tied with the minions of Korrok, but still seems to be a different thing with its own motivations.
Then, in the third book, we learn about its mysterious ties with "Min", seemingly related to the Egyptian fertility god. Will the audience ever know more? (hide spoiler)]

Horror never gets better when it's explained, particularly in stories like this where the source of the dread (and lots of the comedy) is that the characters find themselves in a position of tremendous responsibility but with no clear picture of what's going on, or if what they're doing is even the right thing. They are at the mercy of forces they don't understand and couldn't understand even if it was explained, so what's important in the story is in how they approach that situation, and specifically how the three main characters have three very different approaches to the unknown, to coping with that uncertainty. But even the resident expert who doles out exposition Dr. Marconi, freely admits he often doesn't know what's happening or why. So what gets uncovered with each new book is not additional details about the history or lore, but rather allowing the characters to learn and mature and come to terms with their place in a world that they'll never completely understand. I feel like that applies to real life, too. You'll never solve the universe, you'll only (hopefully) solve your own ability to deal with what it throws at you.

Hey Jason, I finished WtHDIJR (what a mouthfull of an acronym) in a single sitting the day it came out. It was really good, keep the novels coming. I know the DVD for JDatE has been out awhile but have you ever considered doing an unofficial commentary track for the movie (e.g. Darren Aronofsky put one online for his movie The Fountain)? It would be neat to get a first-hand author's perspective scene-by-scene.
