Allison asked Susan Vreeland:

Have you started working on a new book? If so, what artists/paintings are featured? Thank you so much for writing wonderful art fiction books. I've enjoyed reading every single one.

Susan Vreeland I appreciate your loyalty.
No, I have not started writing another book. Ever since 1988, I have worked steadily on one book after another, ultimately producing six art-related novels, and one short story collection, Life Studies, which reveals painters (Renoir, Monet, van Gogh, Cézanne, Berthe Morisot, Manet from points of view of those who knew them, Modigliani from the point of view of his daughter searching for shreds of information about the father she never knew, and ordinary people who have profound experiences with art. If you haven't read it, I do recommend it. The writing of short fiction requires precision and conciseness. Consequently, I believe the stories in this collection comprise some of my finest writing. After this decade of solid work, it's time for me to step back and assess at leisure where I want to go next and to read all those wonderful books that have slipped through my grasp.
