I was thinking of writing a novel that was loosely based on my experience as a therapist treating inner-city women. A newspaper came with a picture of bi-racial twin sisters; one of them looked black and the other looked white. That's when the idea came to me: What if they twins like these were given up for adoption and raised in neighboring towns, but worlds apart?
