Ian Rankin Yes but I also like a lot of newer stuff Rebus would have little or no truck with (Mogwai, Boards of Canada, etc). But we both love the Stones, John Martyn, Van Morrison etc.

One of the reasons I like Crime/Mystery series is that I get comfortable with the characters, I never get enough of the characters I love - like Rebus. Have you considered a prequel, which worked great for the Morse TV character, less well for other stories?
