As a librarian, I have been recommending Ask Again, Yes to so many of our readers. Every single one has come back in to say how much they enjoyed it! Always a proud librarian moment... It's such a gorgeous book and I can't wait to read again with my monthly book discussion this fall. What are YOU currently reading that you would recommend we check out?

Fleishman is in Trouble is tied with Disappearing Earth for my favorite books of 2019. Fleishman seems on the surface like a little bit of a romp, at first, an old-fashioned picaresque, but it ends up containing some of the sharpest social commentary I've read in a very long time. I highlighted almost ht entire second half. Disappearing Earth is a marvel of suspense and gorgeous writing. I also just finished Lie with Me by Philippe Besson, translated from French by Molly Ringwald (THE Molly Ringwald - who knew?). It was absolutely gorgeous. I basically ATE it. I couldn't put it down.

I worked as a Case Manager in a mandatory AOD Rehabiliataion Centre, and I was really impressed with your portrayal of addiction- specifically, the moment where Kate was contemplating how you define addiction, especially high functioning addicts/alcoholics. I really loved that you had this middle class, otherwise considered 'successful' family dealing with this issue. Did you need alot of research around this topic?

Amazing characters development, psychology and research. After finishing the book I thought these were real people I knew. I shared with my friends & family the part when when Anne confronts Francis Gleeson while she is baby sitting the kids. Your potrayal of her body language, emotions and the simple qs she asks 'Can you forgive me...?' was so profound. What was your inspiration or guidance for this part?

How much time do you spend researching a book? Is this something you do while you are still conceiving the plot of a book or do you research as you go? If you are not an established writer, how do you connect with people to get the information you are looking for?
