For years, I’ve been teaching people the overall story of Scripture, starting in Genesis. I have learned so much about God and his love for us in the Bible. Anyway, one day I realized that when we talk about “important” things like what does the Bible teach us about faith and how to follow God, people almost always focus on the men: Abraham, Moses, David, etc. Which is all well and good – but nearly every one of those men has a woman beside him. And she’s not just there for looks!
Men and women were both part of God’s plan from the beginning, and they’re both part of God’s plan through the ages. I decided to take a new look at the women of the OT, specifically to see what they show us about how to live by faith and follow God. And to make it really relatable, I included stories of women I know, who have influenced my growth in faith.
I hope women who read "Becoming Women of the Word—How to Answer God's Call with Purpose and Joy" will glean from the legacy of all of these women, make it their own and pass it on to the next generation.
