-Pig for lunch at the wedding (eating pig excludes Muslim countries)
-Pig parts (ham, chorizo, etc.) hanging from the ceiling. This is quite common in Spanish villages.
-War where grandparents were killed (Civil war)
-She speaks French (used to be second language at Spanish schools in the 60s-70s)

Reasons why I think she's not from Spain:
-The conversation between her husband and brother at the end of the book. (less)
