Goodreads asked Tom Saric:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Tom Saric The best thing that I've found has helped my productivity is writing my first drafts longhand. I only move forward and I never go back and read what I wrote the day before. It helps eliminate my inner critic. I found that when I wrote on a word processor, I would constantly be going back to what I wrote, cringing and then reworking and reworking even though it was still the first draft.

The other thing I remind myself is that writing is a craft and that I will get better over time. I remind myself that the book I am writing now will not be the best book I ever write. It shouldn't be as long as I am learning and developing as a writer.
