Goodreads asked McKenna Rogue:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

McKenna Rogue Find other writers who have similar goals and aspirations and form a group with them. Before I moved out to Colorado, I had no idea there were groups of writers. I was always a solo writer and aside from my parents who are also writers, I'd never really interacted with other writers. When I found my first critique group, it changed my writing world. Don't be afraid to leave a group if it's not working for you. Don't stay in a group that's dysfunctional, but I really feel like having a tribe of writers to talk to and learn from is extremely important. There are also tons of online groups. I would also recommend trying a bunch of different processes to find what works best for you whether it's pantsing, plotting, a mix, or editing as you go or editing at the end. Every writer has a different process and there is no wrong or right answer. Find your way and let yourself evolve and change as you need to. Write as much as possible and read as much as possible. The biggest piece of advice I think I can offer is decide what you want to get out of writing. If you decide that it's just a hobby for you, that's wonderful, hobby it up! If you want to be published by a traditional publisher! Awesome! If you want to self publish, then go for it! If you want to make money or just publish passion projects figure out the most professional path to do those things. There is a never ending fountain of resources for all these things. Ask other writers who are doing what you want to do. But above all, find your path and stand proud on that path. It's your writing and you should do with it what you want! Happy Writing!
