I would say, no matter what you have to write about it, just do it. You would be surprised at how impactful your words can be in this world whether it's fiction or nonfiction. Don't worry about making it perfect, that's what editors are for, and go for it!
My other piece of advice would be to use your personal experiences to add life to your characters, again both in fiction or non fiction. Your experiences matter, and it will make your book shine!
