My novella, Diamond Jack's Angel in the Hot Western Nights anthology was inspired by a visit to the site of Alberta's worst mining disaster (April 3, 1906). I gazed at the photograph of a sad-looking woman and "connected" with her spirit, went home and wrote a love story.
