Goodreads asked C.J. Galaway:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

C.J. Galaway Stephen King gives the best advice about this that I try my best to follow. “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There's no way around these two things that I'm aware of, no shortcut.” and “you can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.” Both are from his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. It is an essential part of my library and a book I pick up every time I feel stuck, and it inspires me to keep plugging away. I'd also add write every idea down, no matter how weird. Even if it is out of your chosen genre, write it down. You never know what will develop from it down the road.
