Goodreads asked S.R. Wilsher:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

S.R. Wilsher Because I don’t make a living as a writer, I tend not to think of myself as one and so find that difficult to answer. But writing itself is a release that allows me to make sense of the ideas that form in my head, and I love solving the puzzles those thoughts create; to be able to build something from nothing.
The downside is that because it’s such an insular world where I spend so much time living in my own head, I think it’s tough on those around you. It also means that the ‘real’ job gets side-lined.
