Area51
Area51 asked D.J. Molles:

Why do you keep referring to the smell of cordite in your novels when people are firing their weapons? M4s, or any other modern firearm, do not use cordite. Cordite stopped being used at the end of WW2 and it smells nothing like modern smokeless powder. (and it's a major pet peeve of mine when it seems like every author misuses this word) Search online for "What’s that Smell? Cordite vs. Gunpowder vs. Propellant"

D.J. Molles You're absolutely right, and you must be reading The Remaining series! I was corrected on that long ago, but unfortunately it was already printed and could not be unprinted. If you continue to read into the Lee Harden Series (which follows The Remaining), you'll notice that it is described as "propellant."
