To learn more about how autism often presents differently in girls and women, read Sarah Hendrickx excellent book _Women and Girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder_. Keiko is a perfect example. (And to be clear, cognitive impairment is a completely separate issue than ASD, so the frequent images of non-verbal, aggressive, "low-functioning," males is skewed and wrong for many reasons.)(less)
