Julie C. Gilbert Sorry, I'm so used to just reading Goodreads questions. This blended right in.
It's not made clear in the book, but I always imagined it was a straightforward follow situation - the escape was quiet but not perfect. I suppose there could have been deeper, darker betrayal.
