How do you get inspired to write?

Kenneth Arant I listen to music, watch Netflix, and read other people's work. Sometimes a line in a song gets me pumped to write, and sometimes a scene from a show, movie, or novel will make me think "How could I incorporate this feeling into my own work?"
Most of the time, however, I have to make my own inspiration. If I sat around waiting to be "inspired" by something else, I don't think I'd ever get anything done. So whenever I have downtime I think about my story, and how I can improve it.
It gets difficult, sometimes, but I think it's worth the effort.
