For plays, which is most of the fiction I write, I get inspired by seeing or imagining interesting people in interesting situations. For non-fiction, I get inspired when I realize that I have a point of view on something that lots of people DON'T have a point of view on. For poetry, my own emotional reaction to something is my inspiration.
