Hello Susan: There are some scenes of realistic situations that occur in a jungle setting for people who hunt for their living. Nothing gratuitous. But I can't pretend to know what might be upsetting to you. Many thanks for your question, and for your interest in the book. Best, Erica

I'm pretty sensitive to animal cruelty/violence/hunting in books as well, and this book is full of it. I had trouble getting through a lot of scenes, and had skip over some as well. There's an animal dying in probably every chapter. I wouldn't recommend it. And I'm pretty bummed that the author sugar-coated her answer to you so she could sell more books.
