My latest novel REX OMEGA (Swedish thriller released in 2019) was inspired by hearing people discuss royalty and monarchy... and the king of Sweden looking sad and isolated in so many photos.
I began to feel sorry for the guy. He didn't look happy being in a role that was forced upon him.
I started thinking about the meaning of having a hereditary king in a democracy... and I wrote REX OMEGA, in which a future Swedish crown prince simply refuses to become king.
