TBH, I'm a little concerned that you consider a book about an experienced firefighter to be a YA story.
Patty
It felt and read like a YA novel to me. (I mean a romance that starts with a first kiss?) Only one part that was a bit "adult" but in today's world is still pretty innocent.
Lynne
This is not a YA novel. This would be appropriate for junior/senior in high school and up, but this is not a YA novel, nor is it marketed as such.
Susan
This was not a YA novel. Parts of the story refer to something that happened while she was a teenager still in high school, but the main character is a firefighter in her twenties.

YA has nothing to do with plot or how serious or lighthearted a book is. YA means the main character is a teenager. That's it. So, no. This book is not YA and you can tell that from the description where it says the main character is a firefighter.

No, I would not rate this YA at all.

If a young adult would enjoy a movie, such as sweet home Alabama, My Best Friends Wedding, You’ve Got Mail, Family Stone...they can handle this book.
Amy Lou
No. It is definitely geared toward adults. A teen might enjoy it, but that is not the audience for whom it was intended. It's fairly innocent though.
Jessica
I would consider this New Adult, but, like a few other commenters, I think some high school students might enjoy it.
Andi W
It does a good job of skipping over some details. I would say a mature High Schooler could definitely read (Junior/Senior). Definitely not middle school though.
Tracy Shouse
I wouldn't consider this book a YA novel, but it would possibly appeal to some higher level readers as an adult crossover novel.
