Questionable, probably not. I don’t want to give anything away but actions that Amanda must take to survive could be very upsetting to a young reader. I’d highly suggest the book Refugee by Alan Gratz for an 11-13 year old.

No, I taught gifted 6th-8th graders...a bit older than that age and precocious. I would not have recommended this to them at all.
