Hi, Sebastien! I've been trying to invest in HC of the Spellslinger series through The Book Depository. However, the hardcover of the first book is published by Zaffre Publishing whereas the others are by Hot Key Books? I want to make sure they match, but the difference in publishers has a bit stumped and unsure. What's the difference? Is there a difference?
Sebastien de Castell
Hi Emily,
There's only one English-language hardcover edition of Spellslinger and that's from Hot Key Books. However Hot Key is owned by Bonnier Zaffre Publishing, so sometimes you'll see Bonnier in the cataloguing records and other times Hot Key. So long as it's definitely the first edition hardcover, though, you should be fine.
Best,
Sebastien

just curious, but why does the spelling of Dari's name change from Dariana in Knight's Shadow to Darriana in Saint's Blood? It's not a major issue for me, just something I noticed as I read it the second time (I just got it this past weekend a. a side question to add: how do you come up with good names that go so well with the time period? I can never find a good name for the time period I want to set my characters in

Just finished the Greatcoat series and loved it!!!
One part I can't quite figure out is at the end. When Falcio asks which heir was "really" the charoite, and the king responds by saying "What's a charoite?"
I'm missing something. Was this ghost not really the king? Was the search for the charoites part of Falcio's madness? That doesn't track because Cunien was also asked to find the charoites. I'm confused. :-(
