Vienna asked Kasie West:

I love your books! I am working on a book of my own right now but it’s hard to find and think of original things, how did you? Also are you working on a new book at the moment?

Kasie West Thank you! And I don't think I did think of anything original. I like to take tropes (commonly used story ideas) and put my spin on them. So there is nothing wrong with using an already existing idea in the world. For example, the Cinderella story. The idea of a rich guy falling in love with a girl outside of his social class. That story is done over and over again. I did it myself in The Distance Between Us. But each person that tells a common story, puts their life and perspective and ideas into it so it makes it different. But maybe you mean that as you're writing, it's hard to come up with things your characters might do. And honestly, that's just practice. And not being afraid of what others might think. You write what comes to mind and then when you're done, you work on editing out the boring parts. Good luck to you in your writing! You can definitely do it. The more you work at it, the easier it will get.
