Can someone please tell me the ending? I had 5% left of the book, fell asleep, and my library loan ended on my Kindle! How did they get back together and what happened to the girls?

This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I just finished last night... That sounds like the worst form of torture!!

Not sure exactly where you left off, but Chase & Alex had their sexed up rendezvous that started when she went to report the comet to the Observatory, then went to an Inn where they turned into their very own Cave of Carnality :) Then at breakfast the next morning, Chase started talking about when they should get married and Alex kind of freaked out, so they tabled it. Chase admitted that he loves the girls and has for a long time, and he told Alex that he loves her.

They got home to find out that Rosamund and Daisy had run off, and they started frantically looking for them. Alex confessed that she had found the pouch with the money that they were squirreling away, and Chase got upset that she didn't tell him. Alex then said she would guess that they were going to cut their hair and pose as ship boys, and that made Chase even less happy. Just as they were getting ready to go back out after hours of searching fruitlessly, they opened the front door, and Rosamund was standing there saying that Daisy was hurt. Apparently she fell off the rope as they were climbing down from their bedroom window and broke her arm. The got about halfway to where they were headed (which was about 9 hours away) to do exactly what Alex thought they would do and had to come back because Daisy was in too much pain.

Chase freaked out again bc he let down others that he loved and was responsible for (flashing back to his cousin that died "on his watch"), so he pushed Alex away by saying awful things to her about how they could never be together bc she was the wrong class, etc. She left and went to stay with the H and h from book 1 in the series. Chase realized only a couple of hours later that he made a mistake, but for reasons that were never really very clear, he didn't go after her until he found a gift he had wrapped for her while he was renovating his Cave of Carnality (into a pirate ship for the girls), so he went to find her at her friend's house (Penelope) who told her that she was with Ash & Emma, so he went there. Ash basically kicked his ass when he came through the door, but mostly because he was making a racked and the baby was finally asleep. Then Emma told Chase that Alex was out running errands before they left for the country house the next day, so Chase went looking for her. He found her at a bookstore (not the same one where they met originally bc Alex couldn't bear to go back there), and he silver-tongued his way out of it with every last bit of charm he could muster. The gift was the book that he had taken from her the first time they met - not the same copy bc once he realized he took her book that time, he returned it hoping she would find it again. He special ordered the book he gave her a few weeks ago.

So then we get to the Epilogue (doesn't specify time period between the ending of the story and the start of the ep)... They are having a picnic at night outside with all of their friends to see the comet that she got to name (it was named after her last name and Chase's). They are happily married, and the girls are still living with them, but they have a tutor. Alex believes she is pregnant, but she hasn't told Chase yet and is deciding when the right time to do that is (she wasn't worried about his reaction - just wanted to find the best time).

And we have a bit of a teaser in that the home next to Penelope (the friend with all the animals) was bought by a gentleman whom no one has seen, and it is being renovated. So probably setting up the next book in the series.
