Does the Argeneau series books have to be read in order or are they stand-alone stories?

Tom I would recommend reading series in order. Sometimes main immortal character development is lacking, particularly if character was introduced earlier in the series. I first read Runaway Vampire when I picked it at random in the library and was sufficiently unimpressed that I didn't seek out any other books in the series. I later read another picked at random and realized it was related to that earlier book. After reading most of the series, I reread Runaway Vampire with greater appreciation.
Rachel Lewis There are overlying story archs with the Big Big Bads, but each story can be read alone. Most in depth world building happens in the earlier books
