Just finished reading luna and the genetic selection in the book got be thinking. Could Halar grab DNA from an alternate reality version of himself, make it as genetically perfect as possible, then splice it with 1st gen elf DNA to get the best of both species, then turn that soulless uber body into a nightlord and transfer his soul into it. Then, could he vampircally eat his old body to absorb all of its power?

Skipping the question of whether or not elves even *have* DNA, no doubt such a splice could be developed. Thousands of years and Diogenes' resources to keep trying until they get it? Sure.
As for moving his soul, the principle is well-established. It might not work quite the same way, but with some help, he probably could.
As for "absorbing" all the powers--there's the key question. It's been established he only gets a tiny fraction of the gestalt of anything he eats, so it's doubtful. Of course, he can then go out and find a whole lot more things to eat--again--and spend a few decades in an Ascension Sphere--again--and take a bite out of an energy-state being--again--and...

Listening to the series again and if I recall the New Lord of Light known later as the Boogem/Boojum (spelling unknown) and believed to be similar to the other constructs Eric theorizes as Angels. While listening to Knightfall again during the fight scene between the two, the Boogem/Boojum claims to be the most powerful of his kind and first created, does that make him the Morning Star aka Lucifer?

during the duration of listening to penumbra, I noticed during the times he would reflect and mention the people he had been with in the past he would go on to list them but there always seemed to be a intentional act of not mentioning tort. Is that intentional or is there a reason for this?
