Michael J. Sullivan:
Hi Michael! I have a question about purchasing Age of Legend. I pre-ordered it on Amazon, which indicates it's published by Grim Oak and released in July. I read you were self-publishing the final 3 books in the series and also recently came across the kickstarter. Is it too late to back the kickstarter to get a hardcover copy when it's released? If it isn't too late, is that a preferable way to purchase over Amazon?

Hey Kylie,
I'm so sorry I missed this question when it came in (8 months ago!) I'm answering it becuase it goes to the heart of the last two books in this series, which are releasing in the same way as Age of Legend.
So, all three books are DISTRIBUTED by Grim Oak Press, but we (Riyria Enterprises) are the actual publisher. And all three of them have a Kickstarter associated with them. Age of Death's Kickstarter ended in August and Age of Empyre's will launch in January.
People who back the Kickstarters get their books early. For instance, Age of Death people received the ebook in October 2019 (rather than February 2020) and the hardcovers (which are coming off the presses on Dec 30), will be in their hands in early January (rather than early February for people who buy through the retail chain. There is always a time (like now for Age of Death), when the Kickstarter is over, but the retail books aren't yet released. During that time, you can always get a "manual add" which gets you "into the Kickstarter (and you receive all the bonus perks). All you need to do is send an email to me at michael.sullivan.dc@Gmail.com and indicate what "level" you want to back at ($10 for the ebook, $25 for the hardcover, or $35 for both), and we'll get you into the program.
The Age of Empyre Kickstarter (the last book of the series), will be launching in January. Early backers will get the ebook in March (rather than May) and the printed books in April.
As for where is the preferable place to purchase...Well, the Kickstarter is always preferable because (a) you get bonus stuff and (b) we keep a larger % of the money you pay (becuase there is no "retailer cut" But if it's past the time of "manual add" then the best place to buy is via our online store
Again, sorry for missing this question when it came in. I hope you were able to get get Age of Legend early!

Michael, Have you ever been part of a mastermind group, either formal or informal? They seem to be all the rage these days, especially in the indie community. If not, would you consider joining one or starting one? Who would be in your ideal mastermind alive or dead? Thanks, Dan

Hello Michael, I am huge fan of your work and I am curious to know if The Rise and Fall series or Age of Empyre will pay true homage to Raithe? He was my favorite character in The Legends of the First Empire and I feel he was built up as a character only to become a sacrifice and a place holder in the series (a rock on a hill). I was hoping for a reunion between him and Tesh, so my hope he get a moment to shine again.
