Ms Nickless, I do a lot of reading as well as my kids. I try to read books which are classified as CLEAN Reads when possible. This allows my young kids who are voracious readers to read any book on my bookshelf without problem. Do you consider your book clean (no strong/cursing language, tame sexual scene, etc ? Thanks for Answering. Rodney

Rodney, I'm so glad you asked this question. When my kids were young, I was very careful about what I allowed them to read. (Maybe because as a kid myself, I snuck in and read Jaws without my mom knowing--I had nightmares for weeks). My books feature Marines and cops, who are among the most foul-mouthed people on the planet. Bad language is a huge stress reliever for them, and there is a lot of it in my first book. And while I lessened the language in the second and third books, it's still there. I would not recommend them for young kids! My best, Barbara

Sydney Rose seems to have developed some serious issues from her tour in Iraq. Her experiences ring as being very realistic. I'm guessing, since you were born in Guam, that you were a child in a military family. I'm curious about how you get into Sydney Rose's head. Did you serve, does it come from family experience, or is it based on research and interviews?

Ms. Nickless, my name is Angie Adams and I belong to a book group that only reads debut novels. We have selected Blood on the Tracks to review on Thursday, September 26th. We all live in CO Spgs and of course have been thrilled to read a local writer. I would love to invite you to speak to our book group if that is something you would be interested in doing. Dare I drop Maria Faulconer's name as a fun pal?
