Hello fellow vampire enthusiasts! I'm very excited to read Dracul however even though I've seen the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula (a few times), I haven't read the book. My question is will Dracul make sense to me if I read it first? Also, for anyone who saw the movie Dracula and then read the book, did the movie spoil the book? Thank you!I Lisa

When it comes to Dracula you should read the book..the film adaptations are ok even the one by Coppola, though it has its merits(he turned it into a love story !!!). And if u have started reading Dracul hope you like it...I find it to be a tedious one! Dracul, IMO, can never be as good as Dracula..it's cliched and a bore!

Dracul and Dracula are completely different stories, although related. So watching the Dracula films does not spoil anything for this novel.

Hey there!
In my opinion first of all you should read the book of Dracula from Bram Stoker, then watch the movie. I think the most classic one is with Béla Lugosi, the move was made in the 1931.
The book of Dracul, well I do not find any connection yet to Dracula, I am on page 266 out of 492.
But surely it is fine, exciting and little goosbump-ish :) Have fun!

There have been at least 6 film versions, starting in 1933. I like the one with Frank Langella the best, I think 1979.

I saw the Keanu Reeves movie before reading Dracula and it felt like an entirely new story when I read it so it really didn't spoil the book. But I did find it was easier to read the prequel Dracul with the knowledge of the original and being able to pick up on all the nods to Dracula

I read the book first and then watched the movie, can you imagine 500 pages in 2hrs movie? There is your answer ;)

wait there is a movie too? I'm way behind then. I havent read the book or seen the movie.

Read the Bram Stoker book, Dracula, first. Dracul will not make as much sense if you don't. I am reading Dracul now and it really helps to have the ideas and story of the original Dracula in my mind. Just my opinion.
