Why do struggle to finish this novel? This is the third time I have stalled out more than half way through. I just can't seem to care about this family...tell me: should I tough it out?

Many wonderful moments, even if they didn't really add up to a satisfying overall conclusion. It is culturally significant and I am glad I read it, even with the low-level pain attached. Anytime I hear "magic realism," I immediately think of this book!(less)
