Jeff Wheeler that's a really thoughtful question - thank you for asking it. I'm a firm believer in the principle of delayed consequences. Many of us use our innate "powers" for good and evil. Consequences don't immediately follow, giving us a chance to figure out who we are going to be. But the consequences inevitably follow. Severn isn't the only one punished by the Fountain for misusing his. The consequence was delayed as it is for other characters in my Kingfountain series.
