I definitely knew guys like Stephen (although maybe not as fat? That was strange). I will say though that although Lucy was more redeeming than Stephen, I thought she was horrible too, so I didn't really care if she ran, just the girls who he was cheating on with Lucy!

Holy CRAP, yes. And even more disturbing was the setting was at the same college I attended in California. That relationship ended 40 years ago, and what happened as I was finishing the book? The ex finds and friends me on FB! I immediately emailed my college roommates (who lived through my drama back then). Crazy. I was totally triggered!

100% yes! His name was also Stephen and although I am only about 100 pages in I feel like I am reading word for word our story. So crazy! That relationship ended over 20 years ago and I still have nightmares about him and us still being together
