A Goodreads user asked Jamie Ford:

Where is Mrs. Levine? If she is nearby, I will whisper. I love your novel about Ernest Young. Sorry, I haven't fallen in love with Seattle. There are characters I will never forget. There is Madam Flora. What a horrible life of death and disease. I will never forget Fahn walking naked down the street with bleeding feet. I hate not being alive to visit the World Fairs. I've never seen the World's Largest Piano.

Jamie Ford You know, we never really see what becomes of Mrs. Irvine. I hope she lived out her days in a positive way, but you never know. As far as Madam Flora, I didn't mention it in my Author's Note, but she was a real person. I had very little info at the time the book was written, but after the book came out I was approached by someone who knew a lot about her. He said I did her justice. Thanks for the question :)
