Hello! I read your book awhile ago and I instantly thought it was a magnificent work of art. The way your main character speaks of the world is very enlightening and imaginative. I recently read the book again, and then looked at the Author name. I was shocked to find that your name was on the list for Ask the Author. It is so cool to have a opportunity to ask you a question! How do you create a character with depth?

You have to spend time with them - which means writing them, thinking about them, interviewing them, arguing with them. When they start to feel real you know something is working.

Hello, Let me begin by thanking you for producing such an amazing book- Before I Go To Sleep. It was so intense! Just wanted to ask , after finishing writing a book, do you ever feel empty? The way readers often feel after being taken on a long journey? Is it difficult to detach yourself from writing and get back to the real world- like hey I'll produce a work of art & then pop down to the shops!
