Garon, I just started the series and I am enjoying it. I like how you are presenting a different take or perception of possible vampire types. I wonder why Sasha had to die? I was finding her character a great teacher and help meet for Eric. Could she return?

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I've always liked the idea of multiple vampire types; there are so many disparate legends and stories, it only seems fair.
As for Sasha, there are good and sufficient reasons for her untimely demise. If you've just started, you will eventually discover some of them as you read on.
Could she return? Possibly. But I'd prefer to avoid spoilers if at all possible.

(2/2) who fits that particular bill. Especially with having dark churches and wicked minions spreading evil on Earth-lines. Is Eric dealing with the thing that inspired the tales of Lucifer? If so, Angels might not necessarily be against lending him a hand. Valan (Velan? Velen?) certainly seemed like he was troubled by Eric's fairness towards him, and considering the wider implications.

Listening to the series again and if I recall the New Lord of Light known later as the Boogem/Boojum (spelling unknown) and believed to be similar to the other constructs Eric theorizes as Angels. While listening to Knightfall again during the fight scene between the two, the Boogem/Boojum claims to be the most powerful of his kind and first created, does that make him the Morning Star aka Lucifer?
