Have you read any of Annie Proulx's books? I just finished Close Range, Wyoming Stories for a literature class I'm taking. I so value your thoughts and opinions, if you have read them, would you share your thoughts? (If you have not read them, this is not a recommendation, unless you like reading about violence against men and women, rape (including that of young girls), sexual exploits of everyone with everyone,.)
Jameson Parker
Yes. I've read "Close Range," "Bad Dirt" and "The Shipping News," and I have had mixed reactions. I think "The Shipping News" was stunningly brilliant; some--most--of her short stories are brilliant. But when she fails, she fails big-time; some of the bad short stories were just slick re-tellings of well-known cowboy yarns. (Don't ask me which ones because it's a long time.) But nothing can take away from the brilliance of the good ones, and nothing can take away from the brilliance of "The Shipping News." And "Close Range" has the fabulous illustrations by acclaimed artist William Matthews, which are worth the price of the book by themselves,

I miss you! You're going to write a blog post again sometime, right? Have you read Stephen King's memoir, On Writing? (Quite probably the only Stephen King book I'll read and the only one I'll fall asleep while reading. But that aside, it's fascinating. So if you haven't you really should read it.)

This isn't a question. In my reading of Code Girls, it has struck me the weight these women carried during the war and even long after. That had to be so difficult. In my reading now, it's D-Day. Those women knew the day was coming but did not know the day. When they first received the messages that it was commencing, they were told not to speak of it even after the news broke across the nation. Can you imagine?

Some parents become victims of Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) by ex-wives/husbands. One of the tactics is obliteration of paternity. The ultimate rejection of the other parent by changing the children’s last names or given family names (Junior) etc.... Has this been your experience? I have seen this done in my family. This may be a good topic for a book or articles I Apologize if this is overstepping or way off.
