Nico Pinga asked Zorlon:

Hello, I came across your review regarding the book A History of the Philippines: From Indios Bravos to Filipinos. You mentioned that you try to read about one country per year - wanted to check if you happened to come across some similarly well-written (and not too lengthy) books on Mexico and Brazil that provide a nice overview? Thanks in advance!

Zorlon Hi Nico! I'm currently reading a history of Brazil by Boris Fausto which is pretty decent, though the modern sections dip a bit too much into economic policy to the detriment of everything else. Overall, though, the book is good. I can recommend it. I don't have anything to recommend for Mexico, since I haven't gotten there yet in my reading.
